Paul is...Dead??

On this page you will find my collection of "clues" to the death of Paul McCartney and his replacement by a double. Notice that I don't think any of this is true, nor should you unless you're on some serious medication. So please no hate mail or anything, I just did this to freak you out, heeheehee
Thanks to my friend Lunar for this clue in a George Harrison song....

The Story

Paul got into his car crash early one Wednesday morning at 5 am (e.g. "She's Leaving Home") He was too busy looking at a meter maid,(Lovely Rita?") and didn't see the changing traffic lights ("a Day in the Life"). He wasn't killed outright, but his car caught fire, a crowd of people stood around ("A Day in the Life" again), and then he died from head wounds (he lost his teeth and hair). The Wednesday morning paper came with an article but was cut out and the papers recalled ("Lady Madonna"). George got the idea to cover up the death to keep the Beatles going strong. They held a Paul look alike contest. The winner was William (Billy) Campbell. The Beatles paid him to quit his job and be "Paul." He even had plastic surgery. The difference was that Billy had a scar on his upper lip which wasn't fixed. But Paul really got the scar after a non-fatal motorcycle accident in 1966.

Clues on Album Covers

Rubber Soul
The Beatles are looking down. Like their looking in a hole or grave. John is looking away from the grave,. Perhaps because he is upset over Paul's death?.

Revolver
On the cover, Paul is facing sideways, as if it didn't fit in with the other Beatles any more.

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
(the winner of cover with the most clues. Here goes...)
The Sgt. Pepper cover was supposed to look like a crowd hanging around after a Beatles concert. Cardboard cutouts and wax models of famous people are behind the band. The celebs include Bob Dylan, Mae West, wax models of the Beatles themselves, Stuart Sutcliffe, Albert Einstien, and others. There is the words "BEATLES" done up in red flowers. There's also a bass guitar made of yellow flowers, and only three strings, signifying three Beatles left. Closer inspection of this "bass guitar" shows that the flowers that make it up actually spell "PAUL?" indicating his questioned existance. On the lap of the doll wearing the Rolling Stones shirt is a model of the car Paul was driving. Paul has his back to the camera on the back of the album as well as wearing a patch that reads "OPD" (officially pronounced dead?) on his left arm in the center spread. Also, when you put a mirror (or the CD) on the words "Lonely Hearts" on the drum, you see "1ONE1XHE|DIE". One and one and one is three Beatles. X means death to the other one. HE|DIE is obviosly referring to Paul because the arrow points to him. (sorry!) On the back cover George is pointing at the lyric "Wednesday morning at five o'clock",which was the time of Paul's death. Paul's head just touches the title of "Within you without you". If you read across the back cover, from left to right, starting with "Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly", you get "Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins," "life flows on within you and without you", "you're on your own your in the street".
Thanks to Briana for this one: when you turn the record a bit the figures seem to spell out "R.I.P."

Inner Groove - on side 2, on the British release, if you take off the sticker on the reverse side there is an infinately repeating groove that contains gibberish that, when played backwards, supposedly says "Will Paul come back as Superman?" or "We'll f*** you like we're Supermen!" A clip of this is at the end of "A Day in the Life" on the CD.

Magical Mystery Tour
Okay, this is REALLY, REALLY weird, but I'll try to explain:
1. John says he is the walrus in "I Am The Walrus".
2. Little Nicola says "No you're not!" (inside the album cover in the track listing) also:
3. In "Glass Onion" John says "I told you about the walrus and me man/You know we're as close as can be man/Well here's another clue for you all, the Walrus was Paul."
4. The Walrus is also the eggman "goo goo g'joob." Apparently the last thing Humpty Dumpty (the eggman!) said before cracking his head (e.g. the car accident) was "goo goo g'joob".

Inside the album on page three of the color booklet (record only), Paul is shown sitting behind a desk with placard [closer examination shows its a bumper sticker] in front of him that reads "I WAS" [or "I You Was", or "I was you", depending on how you read it]. you can see the scar on his lip here. Page 15 has a cartoon of Paul playing with a car on his desk.Towards the end of the booklet, Paul can be seen wearing a black carnation while the other Beatles are wearing red ones. [John sings [says] "I buried Paul" on "Strawberry Fields Forever". The phrase 'I buried Paul' occurs at the end of Strawberry Fields Forever. It appears to have been slowed down, but it is quite clear. I believe that when asked about this line John at one time said the words were "cranberry sauce".He actually says "cran-" again at the very end. Also, the word "Beatles" when held to a mirror is actually a phone number! The number is: 231-7438. People who allegedly called this number heard John say "Beware of Abbey Road"(See Abbey Road cover), "You're getting closer", and others.

But when my friend Briana tried to call this she needed an area code. So what's that one? Also what time to call? I thought maybe a Wednesday morning at 5 o'clock, or Friday morning at 9 o'clock (the times in "She's Leaving Home"), but then, what time zone? We must have bothered Bell Atlantic to death trying to figure out the area code. Needless to say, she never heard a thing.

In the Magical Mystery Tour movie, in the part when Paul is talking to Maggie the Lovely Starlet (right before the Fool on the Hill sequence) he mumbles "blue lady.... lady in blue." Meter maids wear blue, of course.

The Beatles (White Album)
In the fold-out poster from the album (or, the CD booklet), there's a picture of a guy wearing a mustache and glasses - this is supposed to be William Campbell. It does look a lot like him, with a bad haircut, mustache, and glasses. If you ask me, it's Paul with a bad haircut, mustache, and glasses.

Abbey Road
This album cover is the best and most famous clue. It shows a funeral procession and depicts John as the preacher (in white), Ringo as the mourner (in black), George as the gravedigger (in work clothes) with Paul as the deceased. Paul is in bare feet, is out of step with the others, has his eyes closed, and is the only one shown smoking, holding a cigarette in his right hand when he is a lefty. Well! On the back, a crack runs through "The Beatles" indicating a split in the group, and a glimpse of a woman in blue can be seen walking by (Lovely Rita?)

Clues in the lyrics (a-z)

Lyrics in brackets [ ] are the actual lyrics.

A Day In The Life: "..I saw the photograph. He blew his mind out in a car, he didn't notice that the lights had changed. A crowd of people stood and stared they'd seen his face before, nobody was really sure if he was from the house of Paul [Lords] ." But it really does sound like Paul!

All You Need Is Love: "..No one you can save that can't be saved.." "..nothing you can see that isn't shown.." "..yes he's dead.." "..we loved you yeah, yeah, yeah.." Actually, PAUL sings "She loves you yeah yeah yeah, she'd love to yeah yeah yeah" !!!!

Come Together: "..he say I know you, you know me.." "he got early warning.." "..he say one and one and one is three." Like on the Sgt Pepper cover? Got to be good looking cause he's so hard to see.." "... he one holy roller..."

Eleanor Rigby: "..father McKenzie (McCartney?) writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear.." "..was buried.." "..father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave, no one was saved.." [Paul has said he originally wrote it as "Father McCartney".]

Fixing A Hole: "..and it really doesn't matter if I'm wrong I'm right where I belong. See the Beatles [silly people] standing there, they disagree and never win and wonder why they don't get in my door." The Beatles are arguing now that Paul is dead and they can't get to talk to him. "..silly Beatle [people] run around.." (William is getting used to his new role as Paul)

Fool On The Hill: "..day after day, alone on a hill, the man with the foolish grin is perfectly still.." "..but nobody ever hears him and the sound he appears to make".

For No One: "..she says her love is dead.." "..she says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone.."

Girl: "..that a man must break his back to earn his day of leisure/will she still believe it when he's dead.."

Glass Onion: "..I told you about Strawberry Fields.." Here! hee hee "..well here's another place you can go.." "..to see how the other half live, looking through a glass onion.." "..I told you about the walrus and me.." "..well here's another clue for you all, the walrus WAS Paul.." "..I told you about the fool on the hill.." "..listen to me, fixing a hole in the ocean.." "..looking through a glass onion.." (a glass onion is a term used for a coffin with a glass panel over the top so you can see in)

Good Morning, good Morning: "..nothing to do to save his life.." "..and you're on your own you're in the street.." "..people running around it's 5 o'clock.." "..watching the skirts you start to flirt, now you're in gear.."

Got To Get You Into My Life: "..I was alone I took a ride I didn't know what I would find there.." Oops. "..and then suddenly I see you.." (Rita)

Hello Goodbye: "You say yes, I say no" Referring to the argument. "You say stop and I say go go go... oh no!"

I'm Looking through You: "..I'm looking through you, where did you go? I thought I knew you, what did I know. You don't look different but you have changed, I'm looking through you, you're not the same.." "..your lips are moving I can not hear, you don't sound different I've learned the game.." "the only difference is you're down there.."

I'm So Tired: If you play John's mumbles backwards he says "..Paul's dead man, miss him miss him MISS HIM!"

In My Life: "..all these places have their moments ... some are dead and some are living.."

I've Just Seen A Face: "..had it been another day I might've looked the other way, and I'd have never been aware.."

Lady Madonna: "..Wednesday morning papers didn't come.."

Lovely Rita: "..standing by a parking meter when I caught a glimpse of Rita.." (he took his eyes off the road!) But then again, who's standing, him or Rita?

Only A Northern Song: "..when you're listening late at night you may think the band is not quite right.." "..you may think the band's a little dark and out of key, you're correct, there's nobody there.." Northern Songs published John and Paul's songs.I thought George was making fun of their songs? ;-)

She's Leaving Home: "..Wednesday morning at five o'clock as the day begins.." (the time of the supposedly fatal accident)

She Said She Said: "..she said I know what it's like to be dead.." She?

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band: "..so let me introduce to you the one and only Billy Shears and Sgt. Pepper's lonely heart's club band.." (Sgt. Pepper's Band is actually an idea taken from history (somewhere) where a man was able to take the place of another man without anyone catching on) Also: Billy Shears = BillyS hears = Billy's here !!! of course Billy is William Campbell

Strawberry Fields Forever: "..I buried Paul.." This famous ending line by Johnny, it's really "cranberry sauce". Turn it up really loud at the end, he says it again. On bootlegs and the Anthology 2 you hear "cranberry sauce.... cranberry sauce.... Alright, calm down Ringo!!"

Taxman: "..if you drive a car Paul [ohhhhh] " "..if you get too cold Paul [ohhhh] .." "..my advice to those who die, taxman!" See a taxidermist. They're stuffing Paul? Ew.

Tommorow Never Knows: "..laid down all thoughts surrendered to the void.." "..Paul played [all play] the game existence to the end.."

While My Guitar Gently Weeps: George cries "Paul... Paul..." at the end of the song.

You Know My Name, Look Up The Number: This strange song has a cuckoo clock that "cuckoos" 5 quick times just before another phone number is read off. This gave the "beware of Abbey Road" message.

You Never Give Me Your Money: "..one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, all good children go to heaven.."

Revolution 9 (this needs its own section!)

When "Revolution #9" is played backwards, the "number 9...number 9 ...number 9" at the beginning becomes "turn me on, dead man.. ..turn me on, dead man". It's really freaky. And I've heard that the whole track can be interpreted as the story of Paul's auto accident and his later death in a hospital. You could say that!

"..his voice was low and his eye was high and his eyes were closed.." "..Paul died.

"..my fingers are broken and so is my hair, I'm not in the mood for wearing clothing.." "..maybe even dead.." "..you become naked.." This album was recorded after the Maharishi trip. I guess it's some Indian thing to bury people naked. You also hear the droning "number 9". McCartney has 9 letters in it

In this one bit when you play it backwards (it took me forever to find it, I'll have it here soon, be patient! ) there are squealing tires, then suddenly a car crash. Then Paul starts screaming "Get me out! Get me out!" It really is Paul too!
